Even though I was like a baby I remember Superman use to be like most popular superhero ever and Batman was like #3 after Spider-Man.I think by the time 2000`s came people slowly were getting tired of Superman and all.and I think around the time movies like Batman Begins and The Dark Knight came out Batman completely beat Superman in popularityWhen do you think Batman surpassed Superman in Popularity?Yeah it took like until the 2000`s to for almost everybody realize Batman`s Coolness.and Superman nowadays people think he is kind of Gay (No Offence).Batman was still popular but back in the days it use to be like this in popularity:

2) Spider-Man

3) Batman

4) Hulk

5) Flash

Well I think it was ever since Batman: The Animated Series and all of its sequels ended because thats when people realized what they took for granted and what a legend Batman is.Batman deserves to be #1.It is true that Superman will remain a legend but he wont beat Batman even with a movie because of simple reason alone neither Superman or his movie wont be as Interesting as Batman.Even though Batman wasn't always #1 no one can deny that he was always Interesting.and now that people are hooked into him and he is #1 is the superhero rank he wont be going down anytime soon :)When do you think Batman surpassed Superman in Popularity?ya it was by the 2000s.....I mean, COME ON! Superman has the same story, more like the SAME Concept EVERYTIME!!! All the Kryptonite crap and everything.....Batman sounds more fascinating, a mortal with the powers....so it started gaining popularity by the 2000s....And admit it! V all knew it would some when....Some when the superman-makers are gonna the realize their serious lack of story-writing skills and GET BETTER PPL FOR THE JOB!!!! , no offense or anythin
It's a swing thing. Right now it's Batman because his stories have had a real deep dark theme going. Supes is still up there and he'll return to the top spot eventually. He's an original so just wait and he'll get back his fame.
