Why does Superman only tackle easy problems, like crime and saving people from disasters?

Why doesn't he ever try to fix politics, like maybe go and stop a war by breaking both sides weapons and blowing up all their ammunition caches, or employ his superpowers to build a socioeconomic infrastructure for a developing country, fight corruption amongst politicians and unemployment?
