They used the John Williams score in the episode with Christopher Reeve and actually a few times after that in season 2 I think. They're building up to when he actually becomes Superman, as we know him. If they use the music full on, they'll wait till the time is right. Why did they stop using the Superman theme on Smallville?
cuz it's smallville, not superman! they don't have the rights to use that song, they probably only did it because of Christopher Reeve.
