I am particularly interested in writing Nietzsche himself knew but also any earlier writer who is thought to have anticipated him..What writers are considered to be precursors of Nietzsche's superman theory?I think Schopenhauer was a big influence on Nietzsche, but I actually don't know enough about Schopenhauer to know if he developed any precursor to Nietzsche's superman. I don;t know how much Nietzsche was influenced by Aristotle, but Aristotle's ideal was an aristocratic kind of person who could cultivate his (yes his) virtues and contemplate life.
