What is the cause of my jittery gaming performance?

My PC has 2x 5770's, 4gb of ram and an intel 750 i5.

When I'm playing a game like Battlefield BC 2, I occasionally get jittery frames while it says that I'm running at 60+ fps. This often happens when I'm looking at a waterfall or going through an explosion with a lot of smoke. It feels like I'm going at about 8fps.I also get things like this in games like borderlands and fallout 3, except for those games it feels like the computer is skipping frames.

I think that it is micro-stuttering/sync issues between the cards, but I have tried just about everything that I've read on forums like these for the month I had this computer. Now, I'm starting to think that maybe the RAM is bottlenecking, or the CPU.

I have heard people say that the i5 750 does not support CF/SLI to playable status, something to do with it not supporting PCIE 16 x2 or something, and even hyperthreading. I'm no expert in this so I'm not sure which, but I've tried everything I can and I really think it has to do with the hardware.

Thank you for your time, and please help me put an end to this nightmare %26gt;.%26gt;What is the cause of my jittery gaming performance?
its probably the ram but ive always had problems with that game

so it could just be the game

ive had problems with that game and i have

dual core 3.0ghz

6gb ram

ati 4670 1gb card

750gb hard drive 7200 rpmWhat is the cause of my jittery gaming performance?
first thing that you should do is to install the latest drivers, because the game that you are playing might not be supporting CF, so one GPU might not be enough to run the game as a result it lags.

So update your drivers. if it doesn't work then try out the following:

1) the problem might be with the game. try some other graphics intensive games (crysis) and see if how you system performs.

2) you might have heating issues. just monitor your cpu and gpu temperatures( use rivatuner to do this) when you are playing. if you gpu heats too much( above 90 or 100 degrees Celsius) then it might result in slow frame rates. if this is the problem, then you should try to add more fans in your cabinet to improve airflow.

3) i don't think there should be any problem with the amount of ram that you have. most of the gamers have either 4 gb or 6gb. i think 4 gb is just sufficient. 6 gb is the best.

4) you didn't mention at what resolution you play at. lower your resolution and then try.

5)i don't think there would be any bottlenecks due to core i5 processor. its good enough to run with two mid range GPUs. don't think about hyperthreading, as it doesn't effect gaming. and its nothing to do with pci slots or anything. you don't need to worry about it.

7) The LAST thing that i think might be the problem is the power supply. if your GPUs are underpowered then it will certainly affect the performance. i would recommend a 800W power supply for such a system.

your system is good for gaming. Best for luck
